Washington DC - July 4th Singles Weekend Daily Itinerary

War Memorial at nightVacation Day 1: Thursday - Arrive Washington DC - Night Tour
Your weekend begins when you land at one of the Washington DC Airports and make your way to our hotel, the Grand Hyatt Washington. Check in and meet your tour leader at 5:00pm to walk to a local restaurant for dinner (not included) before our night tour begins.
Explore the famous monuments and war memorials of Washington, DC by the moonlight on tonight's tour. Relax and enjoy this one of kind experience seeing the great memorials illuminated at night


Vacation Day 2: Friday - U.S. Capitol - Smithsonian National Museum of American History
CapitolThere's nothing quite like the majestic sight of the U.S. Capitol, with its towering cast-iron dome topped by the bronze Statue of Freedom. This morning we take a guided tour of this historic building beginning at one of the orientation theaters with a 13-minute film, "Out of Many, useum, take an optional tour, rent a bike, or just spend the afternoon relaxing om the National Mall.One," which will take us on a journey through our country's struggle to establish the world's first truly representative democracy and introduce us to the magnificent building that houses our Congress. Once inside the historic Capitol, we will see the Crypt, the Rotunda, and National Statuary Hall. All tours begin and miss piggy smithsonianend at the Capitol Visitor Center.
After time for lunch we will spend two hours in both of these Smithsonian Museums: The National Museum of American History and the Air and Space Museum. The diverse collections of the National Museum of American History reflect a wide variety of subjects relating to the history of the United States as well as the history of science, medicine, and technology. The music collection contains more than 5,000 instruments and the popular entertainment collection holds some of the Smithsonian's most beloved artifacts, such as the ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz and the Muppet character Kermit the Frog,
Air Space MuseumNext we will make our way over to the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum. With thousands of objects on display, including the 1903 Wright Flyer, Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis, the Apollo 11 Command Module Columbia, and a lunar rock you can touch. In addition to the exhibition galleries, you may want to visit the Albert Einstein Planetarium, Lockheed Martin IMAX® Theater, and the Public Observatory on the east terrace.
After a long day of touring, tonight enjoy our Welcome Dinner close to the hotel.


Parade photoVacation Day 3: Saturday, July 4 - Celebrate Independence Day
After breakfast we'll walk over to Constiution Ave to secure our spot for America's best and biggest Independence Day Parade. The Parade consists of invited bands, fife and drum corps, floats, military and specialty units, giant balloons, equestrian, drill teams, VIP’s, national dignitaries, and celebrity participants. The Parade is a major national event which seeks to draw the attention of Americans to the real meaning for the holiday. It is a patriotic, flag-waving, red white and blue celebration of America’s birthday.
After the parade it is time for lunch and to load up our included picnic sacks. Then we'll wall over Fourth of July concertto the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol to get our piece of the lawn for A Capitol Fourth concert and to watch the flyovers. The annual concert at the Capitol Building begins at 8:00pm and features military bands, classical music orchestras, and celebrity pop and rock artists.
Fireworks are one of the greatest things about Independence Day celebrations, and ours are about to begin. The National Park Service and partners host a spectacular Independence Day fireworks show in the heart of the nation's capital. View a colorful fireworks display that will illuminate the sky using DC's iconic monuments and memorials as a stage. 


Vacation Day 4, Sunday - Ford's Theater and Free Afternoon - Farewell Dinner
Fords TheaterAfter breakfast step back in time as we visit Ford's Theater. Explore exhibits on Lincoln’s presidency, Civil War milestones and the assassination conspiracy led by John Wilkes Booth. Then we go inside the historic theater, that looks very much the way it did that fateful night. The President's Box is decorated with an American flag and a portrait of President George Washington, just as it was in 1865. Learn about President Lincoln’s assassination from two men who were there. Actor Harry Hawk and Ford’s Theatre co-owner Harry Ford.
Lincoln PostersThe Aftermath Exhibits takes us to Washington street the morning after Lincoln's assassination. Follow Lincoln’s funeral train back to his hometown in Springfield, Illinois. In an interactive exhibit, learn about the crowds that gathered to mourn the president each time the train stopped. As Lincoln’s body traveled back to Illinois, authorities hunted for John Wilkes Booth. In our exhibits, follow the 12-day manhunt for Booth and learn about his capture in Virginia. Learn about the trial and fate of Booth’s co-conspirators.
There is so much to see and do in Washington DC, and this afternoon you get to choose what to do. Tonight enjoy our Farewell Dinner at a local DC restaurant.


Vacation Day 5, Monday - Depart Washington DC
After breakfast, as time permits have a final farewell stroll along the National Mall. Then check out our hotel 12:00pm and make your way to the airport. Say farewell to all your new travel friends as a another great singles weekend comes to an end.
