Mardi Gras worldExperience Mardi Gras World, where over 500 floats built and decorated each year.  Here artists and craftsmen have designed and built the oldest and biggest parade floats and attractions.  Get an overview of the history of Mardi Gras in New Orleans before we tour the float den. You can never get this close to the floats while they’re rolling in parades, and this is certainly the only place to see how these amazing pieces come to life each year.
St Pattys FloatLet's celebrate St Patty's Day!  Only a few blocks from Mardi Gras World is the Irish Channel Block Party which begins at 1:00pm. Enjoy Irish music, food, drinks, and dancers. We will stop here before we trolly back to the French Quarter to get ready for the 73rd annual Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day parade. Men and women in walking groups dress in costumes of green and give out flowers, beads, and kisses to parade goers along the stpaddys nolaroute. Music adds to the festivities with bands in the parade, and groups dancing down the street...only stopping to award their beautiful beads and flowers to the lucky parade goers. Floats and truck floats (those on flatbed trailers created by the riders themselves) respond to the call, "Throw me something, Mister!" Historically, the parade's most famous throws are cabbages, carrots, onions...and moonpies!
